About Department

The Chemistry department is one of the oldest department of PDA College of Engineering and was established in the year 1958.

The department offers Engineering Chemistry for I/II sem B.E. The department has well qualified, experienced and highly motivated faculty members. The department is one of the recognized research centres by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). The Faculty travelled extensively in India and abroad to deliver/participate in national and International conferences.

•  To Build foundation for excellence in development of the institution as a premier institution, by igniting enthusiasm, interest and passion in the study of Chemistry, in professional course, as a part of curricula.

Mission

• To awaken the young minds and discover their talents both in Theory and Practical Chemistry of all branches of Engineering.
• To enhance the quality of basic and industrial Chemistry Programs.
• The syllabus offered by the department at undergraduate level is to teach chemistry as a basic discipline whose focus is to make clear the fundamental concept about the material which is essential for technology.           

             Apart from regular teaching, the faculty is involved in research. The laboratories are fully equipped with instruments such as PH-metre, Conductivity meter, Colorimeter, Potentiometer, Distillation-plant and informative charts. The research groups of the department are engaged in highly productive research work in some of the important areas of Chemistry such as Material Chemistry, Electro Chemistry and Metal Complex.
