About Department
Computer Science and Engineering department was established to offer Undergraduate Programme in Computer Science and Engineering way back in 1984. Department started with an intake of 40 students. Current intake of students for Computer Science and Engineering Department is 300. Department is offering three UnderGraduate Programmes (B.E.) namely Computer Science and Engineering, Computer Science and Design and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, two Post Graduate Programmes (M.Tech.), namely, Computer Science & Engineering and Computer Network and Engineering with an intake of 25 and 09 respectively. A new undergraduate Programme in Computer Science and Design started in 2021 and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in the year 2026 with an intake of 60 each. Department is also recognized as a Research Centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi in the year 2012. There are 72 research scholars registered for Ph.D. and 29 research scholars have been awarded Ph.D. registered from our Research Center under 17 Research Supervisors .Department has been Accredited by NBA in the year 2005,2009 ,2022 and 2025.
Department has highly qualified faculty with specializations in Image Processing , Computer Networks , Mobile computing and Data Analytics ,Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning and Cyber Security. Nineteen of our faculty are doctorates. Department has to its credit over 441 technical publications in Scopus, Web of Science indexed ,SCI indexed, UGC CARE and other peer reviewed journals till date . Some of our faculty have been awarded prestigious awards in recognition of their research contributions. Publications of CSE department have earned good number of citations and reference indexes like, h-index, i10-index, Scopus and Google Scholar . Faculty members have received 12 patents granted for their research work.
Department has received a grant of Rs. 40 Lakhs by Vision Group of Science and Technology (VGST), Govt. of Karnataka, to establish Cloud Computing laboratory.
