Vernacular Architecture – A Sustainable Approach

Vernacular dwellings of Kalaburagi of hot & dry climate region are documented & analyzed based on various parameters of planning, environmental, cultural & energy conservation.

Passive cooling techniques in historical buildings -  a case study of Jamia Masjid, Kalaburagi

            The passive cooling techniques of historical buildings provide a source of inspiration for development of thermal comfort in contemporary world. In this paper, various passive cooling techniques adopted at Jamia Masjid Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) are discussed. Various elements that contribute towards the thermal comfort in hot dry climate of Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) are discussed.
